About the AAAA Institute
The American Association for Affirmative Action’s (AAAA) Professional Development and Training Institute (PDTI), established in 1991, offers an excellent program of education and training for today’s equal employment opportunity (EEO), affirmative action (AA), human resources and diversity professionals and lawyers working in higher education, government or the private sector. PDTI’s education and training offerings include three major components: classroom training, webinars and onsite training.
CLASSROOM TRAINING
The acclaimed 48-hour classroom training program leads to the Certified Affirmative Action Professional (CAAP) Level I and the CAAP Level II credentials. PDTI also offers the 40 hour program leading to the certificate in Workplace Mediation. The PDTI classroom experience takes place three times per year in locations geographically dispersed throughout the United States.
The three-part, 48-hour course for the certification in EEO/AA, the advance level courses and the 40-hour course leading to certification in Workplace Mediation are designed with new as well as seasoned practitioners in mind. These programs prepare individuals to:
- Demonstrate competence to employers and colleagues alike
- Improve salary and promotional opportunities
- Enhance technical and administrative skills in the following areas:
- AA/EEO
- Diversity
- Legal Affairs
AAAA Webinars
In 2008, the association added AAAA Webinars, web-based seminars to provide expert information on current legal, policy and regulatory matters. The one- to two hour webinars are offered every two months and are available to AAAA members and non-members. Recent webinars have addressed such issues as ADA Compliance, the New Racial and Ethnic Categories, Adverse Impact Analysis, the Family and Medical Leave Act and Faculty Recruitment. AAAA Webinars are an excellent, cost-effective and time-saving addition to the tools a professional can use to hone his or her skills in the field of EEO, affirmative action and diversity.
ONSITE TRAINING
AAAA ONSITE TRAINING, in which a training program is specially designed to fit the needs of the individual institution, is an excellent option for institutions or companies that have specific needs or a group of employees that need targeted training. Onsite training is also cost effective and saves travel costs and staff time away from the office. AAAA’s expert faculty works with the client to develop the curriculum and deliver the training at the client’s designated location.
PDTI CERTIFICATIONS
AAAA courses qualify for the Certified Affirmative Action Professional (CAAP) credential. The CAAP, which can be added as a suffix after one’s name, demonstrates one’s commitment to excellence in the affirmative action and EEO profession.
AAAA’s PDTI program offerings are also eligible for certification under the HR Certification Institute (HRCI). For more information about HRCI, go to: http://www.hrci.org/.
Some course offerings may be also eligible for continuing legal education (CLE) credit.
Why AAAA's Professional Development And Training Institute?
FOR THE EEO, HR AND AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PROFESSIONAL
Whether in a corporation, government agency, educational or social service institution, AAAA PDTI courses are ideal for professionals, managers and lawyers who are responsible for diversity, compliance programs and EEO/AA administration within organizations of all sizes. Established in 1991 as a professional development program for affirmative action professionals, AAAA’s PDTI is virtually the only training institute that provides faculty who are practitioners in the area of EEO, affirmative action, law and human resources. PDTI CAAP Level I courses offer instruction in developing affirmative action programs, training in equal employment opportunity law and policy with an emphasis on affirmative action, and instruction in conducting EEO-focused complaint investigations. PDTI’s mediation program is also tailored to the needs of employment discrimination and compliance professionals. Only with AAAA’s PDTI can you obtain training on these substantive and relevant issues in one location.
In addition to the basic EEO and affirmative action courses, PDTI’s CAAP Level II courses offer more advanced training and instruction in such topics as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) law, adverse impact and statistics, and diversity management.
Whether in a corporation, government agency, educational or social service institution, AAAA PDTI courses are ideal for professionals and managers who are responsible for diversity, compliance programs and EEO/AA administration within organizations of all sizes.
FOR THE DIVERSITY PROFESSIONAL
Diversity in employment is an emerging profession, building upon the basics of EEO and affirmative action but extending beyond these disciplines to encompass the broader range of issues that diversity professionals face. While a strong and effective diversity program needs a firm foundation in EEO law, affirmative action basics and complaint investigations, AAAA’s diversity management courses also provide an excellent theoretical and practical grounding in leveraging diversity and managing inclusion.
FOR THE LAW FIRM OR IN-HOUSE COUNSEL
AAAA’s PDTI offers lawyers a program that is concentrated on EEO and affirmative action law and policy. Such offerings are rarely found in other legal venues or taught by affirmative action lawyers and EEO practitioners. Many of AAAA’s EEO law, affirmative action and diversity courses are taught by lawyers and are therefore eligible for continuing legal education (CLE) credit.
