Course Requirements: In order to obtain the Certified Affirmative Action Professional (CAAP) credential, one must complete the three basic courses: EEO Law; Complaint Processing, Counseling and Resolution; and Developing and Implementing an Affirmative Action Program for Women and Minorities.
To obtain the Senior CAAP (Sr. CAAP) credential, one must complete the requirements for the CAAP and 40 additional hours of Senior CAAP coursework.
Certificate, Affirmative Action Program Development and Implementation
AAAA offers a certificate in Affirmative Action Program Development and Implementation for professionals who complete the following two courses: Developing and Implementing an Affirmative Action Program for Women and Minorities (16 hours) and Developing and Implementing an Affirmative Action Program for Veterans and the Disabled (8 hours).
Courses must be completed within five (5) years for the respective credential. Professionals may take Senior CAAP courses at any time, but must complete the CAAP courses (and earn the CAAP credential) as a prerequisite for the Senior CAAP credential.

Completion of the course counts towards the Senior CAAP elective requirement (12 hours).
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A hands-on workshop presented by experts in the field with years of experience in addressing sexual harassment and sexual assault on college campuses and in secondary schools. What you will get:
- An opportunity to learn what the Dear Colleague Letters require, recommend and note
- A checklist for how to get started: what to consider, whom to consult, and what to do when
- A discussion of different issues to address with different parts of the campus, with emphasis on higher education athletics, undergraduate programs, graduate and professional schools, residence halls, fraternity and sorority houses, parents, lawyers and more
- Development of policies, procedures, training programs, publications and more
- Detailed comparison of your current policies and procedures with the OCR’s "Dear Colleague" Letters
- Interpretations and best practices
- An opportunity to ask questions of expert faculty on related Title IX issues, including issues and questions involving student incidents with faculty, staff, visitors and off-campus conduct.

Ida “Beth” Wilson, J.D.
Executive Assistant to the President,
Southern Methodist University
Title IX – Complying with OCR’s “Dear Colleague” Letters
Beth Wilson has served as Associate Vice President for Access and Equity and Executive Assistant to the President at Southern Methodist University since July, 2003. Her responsibilities include developing and implementing policies and programs that ensure both equal access and equitable treatment for the diverse populations of students, faculty and staff at SMU. In addition to addressing access and equity issues, she will be responsible for identifying challenges and problems in these areas and making recommendations for their solutions. Wilson is an attorney, consulting company president and certified mediator. She served as associate provost of Columbia University from 1995 to 2000 and has held adjunct faculty positions at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University School of Law.
She has administered affirmative action programs for the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Public Schools and University Hospital and Clinics in Oklahoma City. Wilson has served as consultant for numerous clients, including civic organizations, universities, law schools and other education bodies in Oklahoma, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Vermont and Maryland. She was national president of the American Association for Affirmative Action from 1998 to 2000 and previously was chair of the Affirmative Action Review Council for the State of Oklahoma. She has received numerous service awards and was twice named an Outstanding Young Woman of America. Wilson has appeared on various public service television programs in Oklahoma and has been a panelist and featured speaker on affirmative action issues on several national television broadcasts.
Wilson earned bachelor’s and master's degrees from the University of Oklahoma and graduated fourth in her class with a J.D. degree from the Oklahoma City University School of Law. While a student there, she received American Jurisprudence Awards in labor law and constitutional law.
