Course Description
This course is designed for human resource professionals, AA/EEO professionals, ADA compliance officers, labor relations professionals or managers wishing to acquire mediation skills to address disputes. The participants will be introduced to the skills necessary to become a skilled mediator, the stages of mediation and the accepted codes of conduct. The course would focus on the front end components of six stage mediation with specific emphasis on the tools necessary to address disputes of a settlement and restorative collaboration. The initial three stages would be setting the stage (joining), story telling, interest identification and fact finding.
This course will prepare those entering the mediation field to understand the role of the mediator and participants to the mediation process; identify the skills necessary to become a mediator and provide opportunities to practice the skills that will be employed in mediation. Part I of a 2-part session will enable the participant will serve as the pre-requisite to Part II- Mediation Training which will serve as the basic 40-hour training that is required in many court jurisdictions.
